1. Who we are
Your Scent Station (yourscentstation.com) is a Malaysian fragrance publication. It is operated by Amniz Solutions (003728771-H), which also owns the perfume retailer Scentflix (scentflix.com). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Amniz Solutions as operator of Your Scent Station.
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit yourscentstation.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
By using the site, you acknowledge that your data will be handled as described here. If you don't agree, please stop using the site.
2. What we collect
You can read Your Scent Station without creating an account or giving us your name or email. We don't run a contact form, newsletter or comment section. We collect only:
• Usage data through Google Analytics. Pages you view, how long you stay, the site or search that referred you, links you click (including links to Scentflix), approximate location (city or country), device type, browser and operating system. The Google Analytics tag is added through our SEO plugin, Rank Math, which also shows us these statistics inside WordPress. Google Analytics gives us this as statistics; it does not tell us who you are.
• Technical data in server logs. Our web host automatically records your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used for security and to keep the site running.
• Anything you send us by email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We use them only to measure how the site is used, not for advertising.
• _ga (Google Analytics): tells visits apart so we can count unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
• _ga_[ID] (Google Analytics): keeps track of a single visit (session). Expires after 2 years.
• wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-* (WordPress): checks that cookies work; stores site admin settings (admins only). Expires at the end of the session or after 1 year.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. To stop Google Analytics on every site, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
4. How we use and share your data
We use the data above to:
• understand which guides readers find useful and improve our content
• see how readers arrive from search engines and other sites
• keep the site secure and working
• reply to emails you send us
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
We share data only with:
• Google, which provides Google Analytics and processes the usage data for us. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
• Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs.
• Authorities, when the law requires it.
Links to Scentflix and other sites. Some articles link to Scentflix, which is owned by the same company, and to other websites. When you click through, that site's own privacy policy applies. We don't send Scentflix your name or contact details; Scentflix may see that you arrived from Your Scent Station.
Data stored outside Malaysia. Google and our hosting provider may store data on servers outside Malaysia. We use providers that protect personal data to a standard comparable to the PDPA.
5. How long we keep it
• Google Analytics: detailed visit data (event data) is deleted after 2 months. Data linked to the cookie that identifies your browser (user data) is deleted after 14 months without a visit; each new visit restarts that 14-month period. Overall reports (such as monthly page views) contain no personal data and may be kept longer.
• Server logs: kept only as long as our host needs them for security, usually a few weeks.
• Emails: kept as long as needed to deal with your message, then deleted.
6. How we protect it
The site runs over HTTPS, admin access is limited and password-protected, and we keep WordPress and its plugins up to date. No website is completely secure, but if a data breach affects your personal data, we will notify the authorities and you as the PDPA requires.
7. Your rights
Under the PDPA, you can:
• ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy
• ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or out of date
• withdraw consent and ask us to stop processing your data
• ask us to send your data to another organisation where this is technically possible
To make a request, email hello@yourscentstation.com. We will reply within 21 days. Since we don't collect names or accounts, we may only be able to find data you sent us by email. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Commissioner (pdp.gov.my).
8. Children
The site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add new features. The date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
